IMET scientist discusses Baltimore's winter algae blooms

IMET faculty member, Dr. Allen Place, appeared on CBS Baltimore to discuss the mahogany tides which have been appearing in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

So why a bloom now?

“Water temperature is a little bit up, relative to what they usually are, and there’s always sufficient nutrients in the bay for it to bloom,” Dr. Place says.
