Seminar: Dr. Andrew James Broadbent (University of Maryland)
Title: Understanding Birnaviridae replication, pathogenicity and antigenicity
Speaker: Dr. Andrew James Broadbent (University of Maryland)
Host: Dr. Helen Dooley
Abstract: Members of the Birnaviridae family include infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) of fish, and infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) of poultry. My team are using IBDV as a model to: understand more about Birnaviridae replication mechanisms, model pathogenesis and immunosuppression, and improve vaccine design. In this seminar, I will present data on the formation and function of Birnaviridae replication complexes/virus factories, the innate immune responses elicited following infection, and tools we have developed to evaluate the breadth of cross-neutralizing antibody responses elicited by vaccines against diverse strains.
