Dr. Helen Dooley's covid research featured in the Sydney Morning Herald

Dr. Dooley studies the immune systems of sharks in an effort to understand how the components of the immune system emerged and have since evolved. Sharks and other cartilaginous fish are especially important as they are the most ancient species to have a ‘human-like’ adaptive immune system. Any novel immune molecules Dr. Dooley finds during her studies are assessed for their utility as treatments for human diseases, including Covid-19.
